Hybrid Cloud Security. What does Hybrid Cloud Security even mean? Well simply put HCS is referred to when you combine Cyber Security strategies and models to protect organization data both “On-Premises” and in “the Cloud”. For example think of an typical business model from 2000-2015. Organizations would “build” or “host” their infrastructure and operations On-Premises in a network closet or in some random cubicle.😉 Well fast forward to 2022 and most organizations are building these same or newly innovated versions of their critical application in some sort of “off site” Data Center or Public Cloud Provider (Azure, AWS, GCP). So the question facing many organizations is “how do we ensure All of our data is secure and compliant, no matter its location?
Enter Azure Arc. The answer to all of your Hybrid Cloud prayers in the form of a hybrid cloud management service provided by Microsoft. It allows you to manage your resources, whether they are on-premises, in Azure, or on other cloud platforms, through a single management interface.
Azure Arc enables you to:
- Bring servers, Kubernetes clusters, and applications running on any infrastructure under Azure management.
- Use Azure tools, such as Azure Policy and Azure Security Center, to manage your hybrid resources.
- Apply consistent governance and security policies across your hybrid environment.
- Monitor the health and performance of your resources and get insights into their usage and cost.
- Deploy and manage Azure services, such as Azure App Service, Azure Functions, and Azure SQL, on your hybrid resources.
Azure Arc is designed to help you adopt a hybrid cloud strategy that maximizes the benefits of both on-premises and cloud environments while providing a seamless management experience across them. With Azure Arc, you can extend Azure services and management to any infrastructure, anywhere.
Just look at the above image and you begin to truly realize the vast ability of the Azure Arc system. There is no other Public Cloud provider that provides organizations the ability to have Unified operations, management, compliance, security and governance policies. Imagine being able to create an organizational naming standard via Azure Policy, then being able to automatically apply that across your entire infrastructure! The possibilities are endless!
